Grigorios Chatziparasidis, MD, PhD, DCH, ERS Hermes, is a paediatric pulmonologist and the leading physician at the Primary Cilia Dyskinesia Unit, Medical School, Thessaly University, Greece. He is also responsible for the paediatric respiratory cases admitted to the paediatric wards of IASO Hospital (Larisa, Greece) and Metropolitan Hospital (Athens, Greece). Dr Chatziparasidis graduated from the School of Medicine of the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki in 1992 and defended his PhD thesis at the Thessaly Medical School in 1999. His PhD thesis entitled “Magnesium sulfate as a relaxing factor of airway smooth muscles” on rabbits’ trachea remains pivotal and still cited by many researchers around the globe. He was trained in general paediatrics in Greece and UK and worked as a Respiratory Fellow at the Royal Brompton Hospital (Prof A. Bush) and Great Ormond Street Hospital (Prof R. Dinwiddie). Dr Chatziparasidis is an active researcher in the field of Paediatric Respiratory Medicine with a focus on preschool wheezing, chronic endobronchial infections and primary cilia dyskinesia. He has authored several scientific publications in peer reviewed international journals, contributed to the edition of two paediatric respiratory books (both English and Greek) and participated as the major Greek delegator in BEAT PCD cost action and chILD cost action. He serves as an external reviewer for the ERJ Open Research other journals.
