Maria Vlachava is a graduate of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Technological Institute of Crete (2004), and holds an MSc title in Human Nutrition with specialization in Public Health Nutrition (2006). She was awarded a PhD studentship (2006-2010) and completed her Phd in Nutritional Immunology during pregnancy and infancy regarding atopic disease in relation to the diet and ω-3 fatty acids (2011). She was a Scientific and Research Associate at Technological Institute of Thessaly for 3 years at the former Department of Nutrition and Dietetics with several teaching contracts (2012-2019) and an Academic Fellow at the new department of Dietetics and Human Nutrition of University of Thessaly since 2019. She also does teaching at the MSc program of ‘Nutrition at Health and Disease’ of School of Medicine, University of Thessaly (since 2015). She has completes her 1st postdoctoral research at Medicine Department and Gastroenterology Clinic and recently started a 2nd postdoc research in collaboration with the Department of Dietetics and Human Nutrition. She is also taking part in a European project funded by EU (Gatekeeper) as a research manager at Central Greece site, since 2021. She has 14 peer reviewed papers published in international scientific journals, 2 new investigator awards, 454 citations and h-index 9.
