Angeliki Karagiota is a Biologist from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, holds an MSc in "Clinical Applications of Molecular Medicine" and a PhD in Biochemistry. Since 2019 she is a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Medicine, School of Health Sciences in the University of Thessaly. The main field of her research is the molecular mechanisms (phosphorylation, protein interactions) that regulate the activity of hypoxia-inducible transcription factor 1 (HIF-1) and its role on the regulation of gene expression, cell metabolism and other functions of cancer cells under hypoxic conditions. From her research work she has published 7 scientific publications and has participated in 17 Greek and international conferences. She also participates in the teaching of Biochemistry lessons of pre-graduate students in the Department of Medicine, University of Thessaly. She is a member of Greek and European Societies of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and has been member and president of organizing committees of Young Scientists Forums.
